Terrifying video shows crocodile lurking underneath swimming family in Western Australia

A crocodile has been caught on camera after attacking a 14-year-old while he was swimming with his family in Western Australia’s Kimberly region.

The video, captured on a Go-Pro, shows the freshwater crocodile encircling the boy and his family in murky water at Moonshine Gorge in El Questro Wilderness Park, before gliding away.

Moments before the footage was shot, Cameron Timms, 14, was bitten by the crocodile on the elbow and stomach.

"We were just standing in a group (in the water) and I was swimming through the middle when all of a sudden I felt something on the side of me," Cameron told the Kimberly Echo.

He suffered only minor injuries to the elbow and stomach and was treated using antibiotics.

Cameron did not realise he had filmed the confrontation until watching the footage later in the day.

Cameron’s father Mark Timms told The West Australian the rest of the family never saw the crocodile swim past.

“It swam right through the middle of us and we never saw a thing,” he said.

“It brushed past myself and my wife and we both thought someone had accidentally kicked us.”
